Electronic Cartography Update
Subscribers Only Ever get confused about the names and types of electronic charts out there, and what runs on what, and where the data comes from? We do, too, so here's a review, and a reference guide.
Coastal Cruising Guides
Subscribers Only A capable cruising guide can make the difference between anxiety and confidence while sailing. It can make shoreside chores efficient, and even provide good bunk reading by lamplight while the winds whistle.
Wet-Cell 12-Volt Battery Test
Subscribers Only Two batteries from Deka and one from Interstate lead the pack in our test of eight deep-cycle batteries.
Freedom 30

Offshore Log: IMX 45 Boat Review
Subscribers Only Nick Nicholson recently returned from the Marblehead-Halifax Race, in which he was aboard the winning boat as navigator. He decided to devote his column this month to a review of that boat.
Just the Numbers, Please: A Stand-Alone Sounder Sampling
Subscribers Only The Raymarine ST40 and ST60 shine in our test of nine sounders. Smaller and less expensive units from Norcross and Uniden also deserve consideration.

Although mammoth data tables are not what drew me into this business, the bottom paint program is still one of my favorite projects. Ive spent enough time scrubbing and scraping and painting to appreciate the importance of what we do.
