Aqua Signal Recalls Series 40 Bi-color Nav Lights

Aqua Signal Recall

Aqua Signal Corp. ( recently recalled a small number of its popular Series 40 bi-color navigation lights. The recalled lights, manufactured between November 2010 and February 2011, were made with the colored lenses reversed—with the red lens on the starboard side and the green lens on the port side.

If you’ve purchased an Aqua Signal Series 40 bi-color nav light since November, be sure to check that the lenses are in the correct places (as they are pictured here). Customers who bought defective products should return them to the retailer from whom they were purchased. Retailers will exchange the defective lights for a correctly manufactured light.

For more information, contact your retailer or Aqua Signal at 847/639-6412.

It would seem to be an option, but the maker probably feels better handling the issue itself or through its retailer. Besides getting the colors fixed, getting a tight seal would be important.

Why not simply flip the lens over so that the colors are on the correct side? This seems obvious to the casual observer. Is there some reason this can't be done?
