Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the bookstore, three of Practical Sailors highly regarded contributors (past and present) have published works to warm your heart through winter.

 

Sailing America by Onne Van der Wal (2019, Rizzoli, $100): Renowned sailing photographer Onne Van der Wals studio in Newport, RI has sifted through his vast collection to produce a beautiful coffee table book that celebrates the American seascapes, races, and sailing craft. The book features 200 color photographs and several breathtaking panoramic gatefolds.

Falling by Brion Toss (2018, C-Star): Renowned rigger and author Brion Toss has produced a poetic, amusing, and thought-provoking reflection on the wonders and risks of working aloft. Toss takes us far above sea level into a world of towers and masts as he recounts more than 40 years worth of stories.
